Active athlete all my life, first basketball, then triathlon. At the end of my career, a classic break for family and career.
In 2010, the first “alarm”; weight of 90 kg and a booklet on high cholesterol with dietary advice.
A year later I started running again and do the cycling. I try to be competitive in running, but it didn’t work.
I just can’t do the faster training, my Achilles operation is hard every morning, I need a handrail to go down the stairs and I say to myself: “You’re old. Act your age and slow everything down.”
Then – a sudden meeting happened, a recommendation, an attendance on healthy nutrition workshop and change began to happen.
In a year and a half, at the age of 47, change was considerate:
- -5 kgs (from an already low base of 81 kilos),
- Body fat almost halved (from 22% to 12%),
- Muscle mass (+9%) and body water (+7%) increased,
- 3 units of visceral fat “disappeared”,
- total cholesterol is almost halved,
- and most importantly: energy, faster workouts, super recovery and even “almost” competitive feelings started to return.
Flash: a time machine that took me back 20 years!
In November 2016, one last “test” > half marathon (21 km) – the recovery time from 4 years ago goes up by 10 min to 1:25.05. The biggest difference is after the race – a few years ago I almost couldn’t get out of the car alone after the run, but this time only the darkness prevented me from getting on the bike for another hour…
The two running pictures are about 20 years apart, but the middle one is still from the so-called “alarming time”. Do you really think that diet has nothing to do with this change?
My doubts are gone, maybe yours too…
